Accessibility statement
I want my website and counselling practice to be as accessible as possible. I know that accessibility looks different for different people, and that needs aren’t always visible.
Using this website
I’ve designed this website to be clear, straightforward and easy to navigate, including with neurodivergent users in mind.
I’ve taken steps to support accessibility, including:
- using clear headings and a consistent page structure
- using readable text and colour contrast
- avoiding unnecessary movement and animation
- using descriptive links and alternative text for meaningful images
- designing pages to work across different screen sizes
- keeping information about counselling, fees and what to expect easy to find
- considering sensory and cognitive load as well as physical accessibility
I know that no website will work perfectly for everybody. If you find something difficult to access, something isn’t working as expected, or you’d prefer information in a different format, please let me know.
Accessibility and counselling
Accessibility isn’t only about the website. People communicate, process information and take part in counselling in different ways, and you don’t need to fit a particular idea of what a counselling session should look like.
Where possible, I’m happy to work with you to find ways of making counselling more accessible and comfortable for you. This might include things such as having your camera off during online sessions, moving around or changing where you sit, having time to process a question, using written communication alongside talking, or being clear about what to expect from sessions.
You don’t need a diagnosis to ask for something that would help.
If you’re unsure whether I can accommodate something you need, you’re welcome to ask before arranging a session or during our initial consultation.
Physical accessibility
I offer counselling online as well as in person. If you’re considering in-person counselling and have particular accessibility requirements, please contact me and I can give you more information about the venue and discuss whether it will meet your needs.
If you have difficulty using this website
If you experience an accessibility problem with this website, or need information provided in another way, please contact me at sarahlucas.counselling@gmail.com or through my contact form.
I’ll do my best to provide an alternative and to address accessibility problems where reasonably possible.
